After the robbery at the Tanishq showroom in Purnia, security has been increased around jewellery shops in Saharsa district as well. In all the police station areas of the district, police were seen checking vehicles and taking other security measures near jewellery shops. At the same time, shopkeepers were asked for their mobile numbers and staff details.

It is noteworthy that a few days ago, the kingpin of the interstate gold robbery gang, Samastipur resident most wanted criminal Vikas Jha and Manish Mahato alias Maniya along with others were arrested. These people were going to carry out the incident by doing recce of Tanishq located on Saharsa Madhepura main road and Dahalan Jewelers located at Dahalan Chowk. On July 8, notorious liquor mafia Govind Singh and the kingpin of the interstate gold robbery gang Vikas Jha and Manish Mahato and their associates were arrested while plotting to loot a reputed jewellery shop in Saharsa district. On July 8, information was received through the District Intelligence Unit and STF Patna that Saharsa resident Govind Singh, who is a liquor businessman and a notorious criminal, was looting a jewellery shop in Saharsa district.
Vikas Jha, the kingpin of the famous interstate gold robbery gang, along with Samastipur district’s most wanted and rewarded criminal Manish Kumar alias Mania and his many other associates are about to rob a big jewellery shop in Saharsa. Govind Singh is still doing recce around Tanishq showroom in his Swift car. In a joint operation with the team of District Intelligence Unit Saharsa and the team of STF Patna, Govind Singh was first detained near Tanishq showroom along with his car. After that, on his information, famous criminal Vikas Jha and Manish Kumar alias Mania along with another person Ashutosh Kumar Jha were arrested from a hotel in Purba Bazaar with two country-made pistols, one country-made pistol and a total of 14 live cartridges. While two of their associates fled.
After interrogating all the notorious criminals arrested and analysing the mobile phones recovered from them, it was revealed that the gang of these people was staying at a private camp for the last three months. This camp was acquired by Vikas Jha with the help of Govind Singh and another person from Saharsa Basti, Mohd. Javed, by making a fake Aadhar card in the name of Neeraj Kumar Jha. Also, the famous jewellery shop of Saharsa, Dahalan, was recced by roaming around and through Google Maps. These people were going to execute the incident the next day. For recce and roaming around in the city, these people used the Thar vehicle of Govind Singh and Mohd. Javed. Due to the promptness of the police, these people were caught in time and a major incident could be averted.
According to the information, all these accused were wanted in many places of Bihar and other states and are involved in the organized crime of looting gold from jewellery shops, jewellery banks. Among the arrested accused, Vikas Jha was earlier accused in many famous incidents of Bihar and other states like Hajipur Muthoot Finance, Begusarai jewellery shop robbery, a big theft in Bengal and many other cases. While Manish Kumar alias Mania was carrying a reward of two lakhs in all these incidents as well as a double murder case in Samastipur.
